There are many times when I find myself wondering why so many people seem to lack critical thinking. A reflection of this is the way they appear to absorb everything that is “served” to them on the various social networks, without any (or very little) filter.
The phenomenon of “Influencers” in youth is an example. Consuming fashion, diets, musical preferences, habits in countless aspects of daily life, instead of building them in your image and culture, seems to be much more comfortable. Almost an annulment of creative capacity and consequent impact on development as an individual and unrepeatable human being.
This is also a fertile field that the mentors and spreaders of “fake news” seek: whoever hears or sees it, absorbs, consumes and disseminates it as true, without making, or being subject to, any type of analysis or criticism. In this case, the age group is no longer just that of youth, but much broader.
However, I think this lack of criticism is not linear. Many people have that critical spirit and ability to analyze, and they do it. But for a variety of reasons, they choose not to share it, keeping it to themselves.
Sometimes there seems to be a latent environment of escape or resistance to taking a stance on certain issues, or even just expressing an opinion, which can, for example, open the discussion or be the starting point for a simple conversation between friends.
Of course, I’m referring to criticism and constructive opinions because social networks are full of everything else… such daring ignorance protected by anonymity!
But in a simpler and more direct way, and thinking only about sharing and exchanging ideas, why not use this Blog as an example?
I decided to share texts with ideas, tips or simple comments, as if I were talking to you. At the end of the Blog, there is a link that would allow you to interact with me, with disagreements, other ideas or simple additional comments.
All forms of expression of critical thinking can contribute to a new vision or approach to a subject, more open and outside the box. So many times that, after a good conversation, I said: I had never thought about it from that angle, but look, it is very well assumed!
Popular wisdom says that “from discussion comes light”, and it is so true.
All this conversation to tell you that I will continue to insist on doing what pleases me the most, and it may be that someone, therefore, decides to share what is in his/her soul about any subject already discussed here or not, about our motorcycling world or not.
Enjoy your ride.
